Croeso i'r Dosbarth 6!
This term our topic is 'Wonderful Wales'. We have enjoyed learning about the development of Cardiff Bay and researching the history of the Celts. We have developed our ability to carry out a historical enquiry, which involved asking and answering questions based on our own independent research.
We took part in a class STEM project, which involved researching, designing and constructing our own bridges. We found out about different types of bridges and what some looked like in different parts of the world. We also found out about the forces, which act upon the structure of a bridge and what makes them effective. Based on this, we worked collaboratively to construct our own bridges. To be successful, they had to hold at least 500g in weight, be 14 inches long and be aesthetically pleasing. Miss Meadows and Mr Davies were incredibly impressed with the bridges we made.
This term we have really enjoyed our Art afternoons with Mr Davies. We have exploring the art work of Michael Lau and creating our own clay figures in his style. We have learnt how to transform our 2D drawings into 3D sculpts. We have also learnt how to paint, decorate and finish our models. We have also been exploring doodle art and how to transform doodles into finished pieces of art work. We explored several different materials and choose our favourites to complete our final pieces.
In RE, we have covered three topics: Loving, Vocation and Expectations. We learnt about Judaism in our 'Other Faiths' week and how Rosh Hashanah is celebrated as well as its importance.
It's been a busy term!
