Welcome to Year 4!
Croeso i'r Dosbarth 4!
This term our topic has been 'Wonderful Wales'. We have enjoyed learning about our wonderful, Welsh scenery including The Sugar Loaf and Snowdon! We created some lovely fact-facts using research from online resources. We’ve also been learning about how the Celts used to live and created some very interesting non-chronological reports.
We’ve produced some fabulous pieces of creative writing including stories about waking up in a dark wood (they were very spooky!), descriptive poetry and learned how play-scripts are written (we’re going to create some of our own next term).
In science, we’ve been investigating and learning lots of new things about forces. We found out that the higher a ramp is, the further a car will travel! We’ve really enjoyed learning about gravity and how it pulls everything back down to earth.
We really enjoy maths in Year 4! We’ve learned how to add and subtract three-digit numbers (we can now carry and borrow!), round numbers to the nearest 100, use number lines to calculate change from £10.00, tell the time using analogue and digital clocks, classify polygons, find a mixed fraction of an amount and use our times-tables to solve division. Phew!
In RE, we have discussed the importance of being called by God to spread love, kindness and joy and reflect on all of the wonderful gifts we have received from Him. We have also learned more about the family tree of Jesus which was really interesting.
As well as all this, we have learned how to send emails, create real-life news reports, produced some beautiful pieces of art using lots of different techniques and even found time to film our Christmas play!
It's been a brilliantly, busy term! Here’s to the next one.
